Clean & safe
You trust us with your little one, so here is exactly what we clean, what we clean it with, and when.
What we use in each area, and what we deliberately keep out
Toys, the high-touch surfaces in Tiny Town, and the baby area play mat are disinfected with hypochlorous acid, the active ingredient in Force of Nature and CleanSmart toy disinfectant. It is the same gentle antimicrobial used in wound care and eye care, and it is an EPA-registered disinfectant that kills 99.9% of germs with no fragrances, dyes, or harsh residue.
After the last play session each day, we spray everything until it is wet and let it air-dry overnight. Nothing gets rinsed or wiped away, because nothing needs to be. Curious about the chemistry? Force of Nature explains the science.
Soft pieces, like plush toys and fabric play items, are washed by hand whenever they need it.
Little kids explore with their mouths, and that is okay. When a toy gets mouthed, sneezed on, or otherwise loved a bit too hard, it goes into the Yuck Bucket instead of back into play. Parents, you are welcome to drop toys in yourselves, and most families do exactly that. Every Yuck Bucket toy is wiped clean and disinfected before it returns to the town.
Hard surfaces like tables, cubbies, and door handles are wiped down whenever they need it with a hard surface sanitizer (Signet Z1, supplied by our commercial cleaning partner, Cintas). We deliberately keep it away from the toys and the baby play mat, which only ever get the gentle hypochlorous spray.
We sweep during sessions whenever the floor needs it, and vacuum between sessions when there is time, since the vacuum is too loud to run while kids are playing. After the last session of the day, the floors are vacuumed and mopped with a neutral floor cleaner (Signet FC4). Like our other stronger products, it stays out of the baby area.
Toilet bowls get Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach, used on its own and never mixed with anything else, while the outside of the toilets and the sinks get the same hard surface sanitizer we use on tables. Windows and glass doors are wiped with a streak-free glass cleaner (Signet GL1) whenever tiny handprints appear, and any dishes are washed with Dawn dish soap.
When it all happens
Surfaces get wiped when they need it, mouthed toys go to the Yuck Bucket, and quick sweeps keep the floors tidy.
We reset the space for the next group. This is also when the vacuum comes out, since it is too loud to run while kids play.
Toys and the baby area are disinfected, and the floors are vacuumed and mopped.
Professional cleaners give the whole town a top-to-bottom deep clean.
Cleaning can do a lot, but the kindest thing we can all do for each other is simple: if your child has a fever, a heavy cough, or just is not feeling like themselves, please save the visit for another day. The town will be here, freshly disinfected and ready to welcome them back at full speed.
